PDF Redaction Tool
Finds every occurrence of a word or phrase in a PDF and removes it directly from the page's underlying drawing instructions — genuinely deleting the text, rather than drawing a black box over it (the single most common way real-world PDF redactions fail).

Works entirely offline in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
When you'd use this
- Removing a name, account number, or other sensitive detail from a PDF before sharing it
- Redacting a document for a public records request
- Making sure a covered-up detail is actually gone, not just hidden under a black box
This rewrites each page’s actual content stream, removing the matching text entirely rather than covering it with a shape. Text decoding is correct for the very common case of ordinary Latin-text fonts with a standard encoding; it doesn’t currently decode custom-encoded or CID/Type0 (embedded CJK-style) fonts, so text in those may not be found. Everything happens in your browser; the file is never uploaded.
