MP4/MOV Inspector

Reads an MP4 or QuickTime MOV file's box structure and shows each track's type, codec, duration, and (for video) pixel dimensions.

Why it exists

Checking what's actually inside a video file — codec, resolution, duration per track — without opening a video editor or running a command-line tool.

How to use it

Drop an .mp4 or .mov file. Every track's details appear immediately.

Good to know

Reads only the "moov" metadata box and track headers — the actual video/audio sample data is never loaded, so this works instantly even on very large files, but it doesn't decode or preview the video itself.
